In Alegrete, a rural village of Alto Alentejo Region, at the very heart of São Mamede moutain in Besteiros, there is a vineyard 500 meters above the sea in rocky soil. The wine produced is called “Folha do Meio”, that means a slice of ground where the vineyard is planted.The harvest is manual acording modern standards. The varieties are Touriga Nacional, Syrah, Alicante Buschet and Aragonez. A deep red colour, with an intense flavour, notes jam, specially raspberry, together with wood. The taste is fresh and lasts long. Mature and firm tanines.
